Over 1.5 million tulips across 70 magnificent varieties, cradled between Zabarwan mountains and the shimmering Dal Lake
The Garden
Spread across 30 terraced hectares on the foothills of Zabarwan, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is a living canvas of colour.
Established in 2007 to boost floriculture and tourism in Kashmir, this garden surpasses the famous Keukenhof Gardens of the Netherlands in sheer size. Every spring, its terraced slopes erupt in a riot of reds, pinks, yellows, purples and whites β while snow-capped peaks loom above and the mirror of Dal Lake shimmers below.
The Collection
From flame-red Apeldoorns to ivory Purissimas, every petal tells a story of Kashmir's unrivalled natural beauty.
Why Visit
Walk through terraced rows of over a million tulips in simultaneous full bloom β a spectacle impossible to find anywhere else in Asia.
The garden rises theatrically up the Zabarwan hillside, giving every terrace an unobstructed view of snow-dusted Himalayan peaks.
Colorful blooms foreground the serene expanse of Dal Lake β every photograph from here looks like a painter's masterpiece.
Golden hour here is legendary. Soft morning mist, vivid petals and mountain light create conditions photographers dream of.
The annual Tulip Festival brings cultural performances, handicraft exhibitions and local cuisine to the garden every spring.
Hyacinths, narcissus, ranunculus and other spring flowers share the terraces, enriching the palette across the whole garden.
